THE WOMEN OF HICHOZAL
Aruco Mill / Honduras
Continuing to source and support female coffee producers through an International Network of Women Farmers’ co-operatives we are thrilled to announce very limited lots fresh from the ‘Mujeres de Hichozal’ or the translated ‘Women of Hichozal’ an all female group of just 6 farmers working within the Aruco Mill co-op in Honduras.
Cultivated in the Copan region where our import partner established a project to provide entrepreneurial support and finance to foster technical improvements alongside access to the price premiums available within the speciality coffee market. This is a highly selective, certified organic crop that requires the meticulous hand picking of only the finest quality cherries.
The project pre-contracted micro-lots so that the farmers were able to finance additional resources and labour to ensure this was possible within the limited window of opportunity to harvest. The result was an increased crop of perfectly ripe cherry’s, up from a typical 55% to 85%, which after processing returned more than $60,000 above the current FTO market price for the farmers’ 2020 lots.
Perfect for home filter brew, our medium roast is a well balanced cup offering subtle notes of syrupy mandarin with a smooth buttery body.
Please allow 2-3 working days for delivery of your freshly roasted coffee
